Museum of Human Disease

Dear all,

Some of you might be interested to know that there is an actual museum we can visit at the heart of the UNSW. Just found out this recently and thought I could share with you all. And to top it all it's FREE for students of UNSW. Normal charge would have been $10 per person. Can't comment much on it as I have not been there but it would be insightful to know how different diseases progesses.

Introduction

Between 3:00pm – 5:00pm each weekday visitors can explore this fascinating collection themselves or listen to a description of displayed specimens and disease processes with a specially designed audio tour.

Visitors are able to use a unique mp3 device with infra-red capabilities that enables them to hear descriptions of specific specimens and exhibits as they tour the Museum. Most recordings feature an expert member of the UNSW academic staff describing the macroscopic changes in the specimen and relating these to the cause, symptoms and treatment of the disorder.

Transport and Parking:
Pedestrian access via Gate 9, High St or Gate 11, Botany St
Express buses (891, 890) run regularly from Central during semester.
Many non-express buses also stop at UNSW (370, 393-97, 400).

Admission Cost

Adults $10
Child(under 15 Years) $5

NOTE: The Museum is generally not considered suitable for children under 15 years. All children under 15 years must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.

Sambutan Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1430H/2009M

Assalamualaikum semua.

Sudah hampir sebulan kita berpuasa di bulan Ramadhan pada tahun ini. Harap kita semua telah mengambil kesempatan untuk beramal ibadat di bulan yang penuh kerahmatan ini. Mudah-mudahan ibadah puasa kita akan diterima oleh Nya jua. Amin.

Kini tiba masa nya untuk kita menyambut kedatangan bulan Syawal yang penuh kemaafan. Oleh itu, mari lah kita sama-sama berkumpul bagi memeriahkan dan memuliakan Hari Raya Aidilfitri pada tahun ini. Pakai lah cara Melayu atau baju kurung abiskita yang cantik-cantik atu supaya lebih menjadi('happening') lagi sambutan kitani walaupun berada di perantauan. Abiskita semua adalah dijemput untuk hadir ke majlis tersebut.

Tempat: Kediaman Majdi, Fadhli and Bo Jun

Sehubungan dengan itu, ada bisai nya jika abiskita dapat bermurah hati membawa hidangan makanan dan minuman untuk dihidangkan pada hari tersebut. Kami juga memerlukan piring, sudu, garpu dan cawan plastik. Mudah-mudahan sumbangan ikhlas abiskita akan mendapat ganjaran pahala daripada Nya jua.

Kepada mereka yang bukan beragama Islam, abiskita juga adalah dipelawa untuk hadir ke majlis tersebut untuk memeriahkan lagi sambutan kitani.

Di kesempatan ini saya juga ingin mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya, Mohon Maaf Zahir dan Batin kepada semua umat Islam di mana saja berada.

Here is a message from ISOC UNSW. Eid will most likely fall on Sunday, 20th September 2009. So there will be an Eid Ul-Fitr prayer (Solat Aidilfitri berjemaah) held at UNSW ROUNDHOUSE.

Programme:

7:15 a.m.- Takbir
7:45 a.m.- Solat Aidilfitri berjemaah
8:00 a.m.- Khutbah by Sheikh Feda' Almajzoub
8:15 a.m.- Social and mingling session

The prayer is open to all Brothers, Sisters, and their families and friends. So please join us. Hope to see you guys there.
